2019 Christmas Hampers

2019 Christmas Hampers

December 15, 2019

The Edgemont Christmas Hamper Program 2019 was a great success.  We were able to bless eleven families with much needed groceries, household and personal items, as well as Christmas gifts.  The response was generous beyond expectations and we had enough to share with three other agencies: BowWest, St. Luke’s Help the Needy Ministry and Magic of Christmas.

Thank you, Edgemont community, for your overwhelming support.  This was love in action, people looking out for one another.  Coming into this project for the first time, I really didn’t know what to expect.  I was truly moved to see how generous people were.  There were so many food and cash donations given at the Winter Craft Sale.   Individuals made further donations.  Businesses joined in wholeheartedly.   Our 3 local schools and 2 churches continued their annual tradition of giving.  We had buyers, we had wrappers and we had delivery people.  Some of our Scouts came out to help wrap and were fantastic at the Craft Sale collection!  I met a family who has made wrapping an annual tradition for a number of years.  The kids have grown up learning to think of those who are less fortunate.  What a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.  At the wrapping party, over 70 people came together to wrap all the non-food items, making everything look so festive.

We would like to gratefully acknowledge the businesses/others who made generous donations.  Your contributions were essential to the success of this year’s Christmas Hamper Program.

BACKGROUND

Every year, Edgemont residents, businesses, churches and schools raise money and collect donations to create a special holiday season for several Edgemont families.

To get a really rewarding and quintessentially Christmas experience, many folks also help with wrapping and putting each hamper together. They often leave humming a few Christmas Carols!
